Your time is love made visible. When you volunteer at GLIDE, you don't just serve — you become part of the community.
GLIDE is the largest single-site volunteer program in San Francisco, serving hundreds of meals per day — and it only happens because people like you show up. Last year almost 9,000 volunteers served meals, did outreach, packed care kits, and more. Our incredible volunteers bring dignity, joy, and belonging to our most vulnerable communities. Join us in building a community where everyone is welcomed and celebrated — volunteer today!

Meet [Name]All volunteers must wear close-toed shoes and a long- or short-sleeve T-shirt or shirt. No tank tops or sleeveless. Arrive 5–10 minutes early for your shift to go through the sign-in process. Make sure you read your confirmation email, which will have information to help you and your group prepare for your shift. Please reach out to volteam@glide.org if you don't receive a confirmation email.
We highly recommend public transportation. We are about a ten-minute walk from the Powell St. BART/MUNI station. Street parking is metered and difficult to find. We do have parking garages/lots in the area, but please research their fees and hours of operation.
GLIDE welcomes youth from age 9 on up. All youth under 18 must have their parent/guardian print, fill out, and sign a Minor Waiver. The waiver can either be scanned and emailed to us or brought in as a hard copy and submitted to the volunteer office (Room 102A) before the start of the shift.
GLIDE Meals shifts accept up to 25 volunteers at once. Online, you can book groups up to 12. If you would like to book a group larger than 12, please contact volteam@glide.org. GLIDE can accommodate up to 70 people for neighborhood cleanups on Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 11:30 am. Email Lindsey Coonan at lcoonan@glide.org for more information.
All volunteers are asked to follow our Volunteer Code of Conduct, which helps us keep GLIDE a safe, welcoming, and dignified space for everyone.
Filling out a waiver for you (or your child) before you arrive at your shift saves time. Download the Individual Waiver (PDF) or the Minor Waiver (PDF).
Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Community Engagement and Volunteer Team at volteam@glide.org or (415) 674-6081 with any questions.
