Issue Areas

GLIDE’s policy and advocacy work is guided and focused around the following issue areas.

Homelessness & Housing

GLIDE is working toward a San Francisco where more resources are dedicated to preventing homelessness and supporting people in accessing permanent housing—ultimately reducing homelessness citywide. GLIDE believes safe, affordable housing is a human right and the only solution to San Francisco’s housing and homelessness crisis.

Behavioral Health and Healthcare

GLIDE believes all San Franciscans deserve access to high-quality behavioral health and health care, including substance use treatment. We believe care must center the individual’s healing and meet people where they are at.

Racial and Immigrant Justice

GLIDE believes justice must be intersectional. Liberation means all of us. Our communities face systemic racism, homophobia, xenophobia, gender-based violence, and barriers to reentry. We believe in unconditional love: advocating for equity, safety, and opportunity for all.

Economic and Food Justice

GLIDE believes everyone deserves the right to have economic stability. GLIDE believes everyone should have access to fresh, nutritious food regardless of one’s socioeconomic status. Public benefits at their current levels are insufficient for people to meet even their basic needs.

Supporting Women, Children and Families

GLIDE believes families deserve access to an integrated model of family support and universal childcare to be aligned with the Whole Child, Whole Family model. Women and families deserve to be environmentally and physically safe in the Tenderloin and beyond. We must ensure strong protections and comprehensive support for domestic violence survivors so all families can live safely and with dignity.
